BNI Overland Park Chapter 15 is pleased to feature Financial Planner, Ron Buchanan as one of the most active group members.
Ron Buchanan has been a financial coach since 1995. Prior to joining Lawing Financial, Ron founded The Shepherd Group, a financial services firm. He was also a Regional Vice President for a major brokerage firm. His duties included recruiting and training new agents, educating his clients, and various public speaking engagements.
Prior to entering the financial services industry, Ron owned and operated his own business which allowed smaller companies to purchase time shares in several aircrafts which Ron also flew as senior pilot. Ron also spent 20 years in sales and marketing for small business which gives him a unique perspective on the needs and priorities of small business owners in today’s market place. These experiences are valuable assets that Ron uses to help his clients address their financial concerns and establish priorities to make sure they attain their goals.
Ron graduated from the University of Minnesota with a certificate in Agriculture and has a commercial pilot license with which he has logged more than 6,000 flight hours. Ron has continued his education by obtaining his NASD series 6,7, 63 and 26 registrations and is a registered representative offering securities through The O.N. Equity Sales Company, Member of FINRA/SIPC. Ron also holds his life, health, and loan originator licenses in several states. He is also a certified public speaker and speaks at seminars for SOFA (Society of Financial Awareness) which is a non profit educational speaker bureau.
Ron lives in Overland Park, Kansas with his wife Sharon. They have four grown children and seven wonderful grandchildren. Ron is an usher and helps with the media ministry in his local church. Ron and his wife Sharon still enjoy flying when ever possible and are always looking for interesting places to ride their bicycles.
